Multigenre Project
So I’ve decided on Jack Daniels (the coach) for my project and I started working on some things and realized I didn’t have much detailed information on his earlier life and introduction into running. So I start thinking what do I do. Change my ideas? Make stuff up?
I decided I’d try to e-mail him and see what happened, I had nothing to lose. So i sent an e-mail and explained what I was doing and told him how much I appreciate his training methods and what they’ve done for me. I asked him some questions and hit send.
To my surprise I had a response 2 hours later! I was SOOOO excited!!! It was so neat to read what he had to say and learn more about him!! He actually cared about what I was doing, and told me to ask if I had any more questions! I just had to share with everyone how great I think this is, and how excited I am!!
It’s been a big week for me in the running world. FIRST i get 2nd in a race to former olympian Zola Budd, and NOW the world’s greatest distance coach is helping me with my research! =0) Wow.

That is so exciting that he responded to you! I think with the things that you have created a scrapbook would be the easiest way to tie it all in. Or you could do something similar to the “Found” book that someone brought into class and make it a “Found Book of Jack Daniels”.

Wow, Meghan! That is amazing that you’ve gotten an actual primary resource from your subject! I know you are thrilled to be in contact with someone you admire so much. As far as a way to present it…it’d be cute to make like a “board game,” where the goal is to “run a race” and the stops along the way are the different genres you’re including.
PS. CONGRATS on your race! that’s awesome!

I love how you not only put a lot of time and effort into your project but it also had a huge impact on your life. It must be amazing to have received the tremendously helpful information from Jack Daniels. I love the letter written to him. It seemed very personal and informational.

I enjoyed your project. I think it’s great how he sent you an e-mail. When I read your post a couple of weeks ago, I was probably as excited as you were. I told some people about our projects we had to do and they were asking what other people in the class were doing. I told several people that you had actually received an e-mail from your person. They thought that was neat. I’m sure you enjoyed doing this project. It was fun for me to do my project on a person because it was a person I was interested in just as you are interested in him.

I loved learning about Jack Daniels (the coach)
I can’t believe that he sent you an email, that is so amazing! I would have never known about him if you would not have shared all these wonderful things. I think it is great that you were able to learn about the person that has influenced you for such a long time. Thank you for sharing!
